Do you feel trapped in your lifestyle and have a burning desire to get out and explore outside your own backyard. Do you dream about Travel Adventure and experiencing the best natural attractions the world has to offer, but your not sure where to get started. Well I would like to write a series of articles that will focus on how to make this dream a reality, before your to old to really enjoy it.

Beach Adventure

My Background

Just to give you a bit of background on me, I started traveling when I was only 22 years of age, which is quite young, as many people don’t get the chance to really explore the world till they are semi-retired, after the kids have left home. While most people that age where slaving at a job, I was traveling around Australia for 2 years, exploring some of the Australia’s best Coastlines and Outback areas. It was a journey I took largely by myself, into some of Australia’s most remote areas, sometimes not seeing another car for days, camping out is some of the most beautiful destinations.

Travelling is an Education

In my opinion, travelling was such a great thing to do at such a young age, it taught me many things, it was like my second education about life.

Before I travelled, I had all these pre-conceived ideas about what certain place in the World, and Australia in particular, looked like and what the people in those areas would be like. To be honest in reality things were a lot different to what I expected. Landscapes were different, some far exceed my imagination and some, although not as spectacular, were beautiful in their own way. So travelling taught me to have an open mind about the world. Because if your mind is closed you will miss out on all the good things in life.

River Adventure

The people also far exceeded my expectations, they were forever welcoming and couldn’t do enough for me.  Which is quite the contrary to what the media will have you believe, with all the bad stories and people you can’t trust. The general community  is chock -a-block full of seriously good people who are itching to help you, or give you a fair go, especially if you have a good attitude.

I remember one old guy in particular who I met down at the beach in W.A. one day, I didn’t know him from a bar of soap. We were chatting and I mentioned I was on a Travel Adventure around Australia, so he invite me and a guy I was surfing with back to his place for dinner. As it turned out the reason he did this was he wanted to extend the same friendly welcomeness (if thats a word) as he received when he travelled, when he was much younger. We chatted for hours about each others travelling stories and he pointed out some of the places I should go and see. So this is also a vow that I have promised myself to keep, to be one of the many seriously good hearted people out there.

Travelling opens Opportunity

Outback Adventure

Another major lesson I learnt while travelling was that although I resigned from a perfectly good job to go travelling around Australia, I rarely found it difficult to find work where ever I went. I remember some people saying to me before I left “What if you run out of money and can’t find work”, which for some people would be enough reason not to go in the first place. Overall I had about 10 different job in 2 years, all in different places. My experience was however that there are opportunities everywhere, you just have to be prepare to have a look and ask, they rarely come to you and knock on your door.

So if you have a dream to see your country or the world there is no reason you shouldn’t start planning your next outdoor adventure now.
